Custom Basketball Uniforms: Cost, Designs and How to Order (2026 Guide)

Sigma Sports 21 custom Basketball Uniform Black Red

Basketball season moves fast. One week you are holding tryouts, the next you need a full set of matching jerseys and shorts for the first tip-off. If you are a coach, athletic director, AAU program director or team parent shopping for custom basketball uniforms, this guide walks you through what they cost, which options matter, and how to order without last-minute stress.

What is included in a custom basketball uniform?

A standard team uniform is a jersey and matching shorts, fully customized with:

  • Your team colors and design
  • Your team or school logo
  • Player names (usually on the back of the jersey)
  • Player numbers (front and back, sometimes on the shorts)

At Sigma Sports 21, our custom basketball uniforms come as a jersey + shorts set, with your logo, names and numbers included, starting at $34 per set.

How much do custom basketball uniforms cost?

Prices across the market vary widely, from cheap stock jerseys with iron-on numbers to premium pro-style kits. What really moves the price is:

  • Decoration method. Fully sublimated uniforms (where the whole design is printed into the fabric) give you unlimited colors and patterns at one price. Stitched tackle-twill numbers look classic but add labor and cost.
  • Quantity. Larger orders usually lower the price per set. Ordering for every team in your program (varsity, JV, youth, girls’ and boys’) in one batch is the easiest way to save.
  • Reversible uniforms. Popular for youth leagues and practices, since one uniform covers home and away. They use more fabric, so they cost more than single-sided sets.
  • Add-ons. Shooting shirts, warm-ups, hoodies and bags can be bundled into the same order.

Tip: orders of $300 or more with us get free shipping and 10% off, which most full-team basketball orders reach easily.

Sublimated vs. screen-printed basketball jerseys

Sublimation is now the most popular choice for team basketball uniforms. The ink becomes part of the fabric, so:

  • Colors never crack, peel or fade in the wash
  • Any design is possible: gradients, patterns, city skylines, camo, side panels
  • Names and numbers are included at no extra decoration cost
  • The fabric stays light and breathable

Screen printing works well for simple one- or two-color designs on stock jerseys, but numbers can crack over time and every extra color adds cost. If you want a modern, custom look that lasts several seasons, sublimation is usually the better value. (We explain the differences in detail in our upcoming guide to sublimated jerseys.)

Choosing the right fabric and fit

Basketball is fast and sweaty, so look for:

  • Lightweight, moisture-wicking polyester that dries quickly
  • Mesh or ventilated side panels for airflow
  • Double-knit or interlock fabric if you want a heavier, pro-style feel
  • Longer shorts with a wide waistband and drawcord for a modern fit

Most teams order a men’s/unisex cut for boys’ teams and a women’s cut for girls’ teams, with youth sizes for younger players.

Basketball uniform sizing tips

Wrong sizes are the number one cause of delays. To avoid them:

  • Collect sizes from every player before you order, using a simple roster with name, number, jersey size and shorts size
  • Let players try on a sample size if possible, especially when mixing youth and adult sizes
  • Size up if players are still growing, since uniforms often last two or more seasons
  • Order one or two extra sets for players who join mid-season

You can upload your roster (Excel, CSV or PDF) directly in our quote form, so nothing gets typed twice.

Design ideas that look great on court

  • Classic: solid body with contrast trim around the neck and arms
  • Modern: side panels with a gradient or pattern
  • City or school pride: skyline, mascot or school crest sublimated into the side panels
  • Throwback: retro fonts and stripes inspired by classic college and pro jerseys

How far ahead should you order?

Give yourself a small buffer. Our production takes just 4–5 working days after you approve the mockup and roster, and shipping takes about 4–6 days depending on the delivery option, so most teams have their gear about 2 weeks after approval. Start the process about 3–4 weeks before your first game to leave time for the mockup and collecting sizes. Already close to the season? Tell us your game date and we will plan around it.
